We took a day trip to South Lake Tahoe this week. Going in the middle of the week there was no traffic, crowds and it was absolutely perfect!

First spot was the beach. We discovered a secret spot…. Tallac Historical Site South Lake Tahoe. Here you will find the perfect little beach with free parking, clean bathrooms, a rinse off area and dogs are allowed. The parking is close to the beach as well! I am not sure how this beach would be on any other day but when we went it was empty.

Afterwards we crossed the street and drove up to Glen Alpine Falls. My family has been going to these falls for generations and is a beautiful hidden gem. The road is very bumpy, one way at some points and takes about 20 minutes from the main road. The falls are gorgeous and very peaceful.

Further up the road there is Lily Lake to explore. We tried to hike up the road to see it but soon realized it was too far. So defiantly take your car. Our trip was so much fun and I always forget how close we are to Tahoe! We are so lucky to live here in Sacramento where we have access to some beautiful locations.
